Terms of Use & Licensing
The short version
Play it anywhere, free. Home games, live streams, recorded videos and podcasts, games you charge money for, conventions and shop events — all covered, with a free account or none at all. All we ask is a credit where you can reasonably give one: “Audio: DnD Soundboard (dndsoundboard.com)” in a description, on a slide, or in your show notes.
Adventurer removes the credit requirement and adds the live shared room, the full Spellbook and early access to each monthly drop. It is a subscription to capabilities and to what comes next — not a licence you have to buy in order to use what you already have.
What everyone may do
- Play any scene's music, ambience and sound effects at your table, private or public.
- Broadcast and record it: Twitch, YouTube, podcasts, actual-play productions, VOD.
- Run monetised or paid games, professional DM-ing, ticketed events and in-store play.
- Build custom scenes, upload your own audio, and share a scene link with your players.
- Credit us where it is reasonable to do so. If a format genuinely has nowhere to put a credit, that is fine.
What nobody may do
- Redistribute, resell, or re-upload the audio files themselves, or bundle them into another product, asset pack or soundboard.
- Publish the audio as a standalone release — a music album, a sample pack, or an ambience track on a streaming service.
- Use the audio to train a machine-learning model.
- Scrape or bulk-download the library.
The line is simple: the sound may accompany your work, in any setting, paid or free. It may not become someone else's product.
Adventurer (attribution-free)
- The same rights as above, with no credit requirement anywhere.
- Host a live shared room your players join by link, with no account of their own.
- The complete Spellbook — every spell and combat sound.
- Each monthly drop from the day it lands, ahead of its public release.

Boards you publish stay yours
Everything you publish stays yours. By publishing a board you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store it, play it to visitors, show it in the gallery and on your creator page, and let other people adopt it — for as long as it is published, and afterwards only to the extent needed so that people who already adopted it keep working copies. You can unpublish at any time; unpublishing removes the board from the gallery and stops new adoptions, and does not reach into libraries that already have it.
What we will not do with your uploads: we will not add them to the DnD Soundboard library, sell them, licence them to anyone else, or use them to train a machine-learning model. That last one is not boilerplate — it is the same commitment we ask of you below.
What you may not publish
Infringing audio, or audio you do not have the right to share. Sexual content. Content sexualising minors — zero tolerance, removed immediately and reported to the authorities. Hate or harassment. Illegal content. Impersonation of a person, a brand, or of us. Malware, phishing or spam.
And recordings of identifiable people made without their consent. On a tabletop soundboard the most likely version of this is a session recording with your players’ voices in it. Their voices are theirs; publishing a board containing them needs their agreement.
If we are hosting something that is yours
Email contact@dndsoundboard.com. A notice should identify the work, identify the material on our site precisely enough for us to find it (the board link is ideal), give us a way to contact you, and state that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised and that the information is accurate. On receipt we disable access expeditiously. If your board was removed and you believe that was wrong, reply to the removal email — that is a counter-notice, and we will tell you what happens next.
The in-app report button is not a formal notice. It goes to the same people and it is faster for most problems, but a rights claim is better served by the address above.
Repeat infringers
Three upheld copyright notices in twelve months removes your ability to publish. Boards already published are delisted, your handle is retired and not reissued, and people who already adopted your boards keep their copies. The rest of your account — your scenes, your uploads, your subscription — is untouched: not being able to publish and not being able to use the product are different things. Notices you successfully counter-notice do not count.
What we may do
We may take a board out of the gallery pending review, including automatically when enough people report it. Delisting is not deletion: the link keeps working and copies people already took are unaffected. We will tell you why, and you can reply to that email to appeal. Blocking a board — the one action that stops its page — is a decision a person makes, never an automatic one.
The audio remains the property of DnD Soundboard and its licensors; your licence to use it is non-exclusive and revocable if these terms are breached. Nothing here grants rights to any third-party trademark — Dungeons & Dragons is a trademark of Wizards of the Coast, and this site is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. We may update these terms; continued use means acceptance, and we will not retroactively narrow the rights granted above for work you have already published.
